He worked as a brakeman & conductor on the M&M line of the St. Lawrence Division (Adirondack Division) of the N.Y. Central Railroad. He worked primarily the Tupper Lake to Malone, N.Y. run, and the Saranac Lake to Lake Placid run. He met his wife (Margaret Loretta McGovern) in Tupper Lake, N.Y. After their marriage in June 1915 in Tupper Lake, they lived in Albany, Frankfort, and in Utica, N.Y. In Utica they lived on Watson Ave & Sunset Ave, and at 705 Chestnut St, 2nd floor. In 1924, they bought the family home at 1621/1623 St. Jane Avenue. His cause of death in 1928 at age 37 was cancer of the stomach.
