Note: Temple Card 105 in Schick file Until 1995 I have never been able to connect Ernest's birth record to what has been verbally stated. Mom and dad had problems getting dads SS because there was no actual record of his birth. He as always stated that he was born June 23 1900 in NY City, NY. This date of birth is what he has used on his legal documents. The following is and afidavid from Jessie Bowen: Jessie Bowen of Valley Falls, Kansas, being first duly sworn deposes and says that she was born on the 18th day of August, 1878 at Valley Falls, Kansas and has lived in and around Valley Falls all her life and that in the year of 1910, Ernest Schick came to live with her parents and to the best of her knowledge said Ernest Schick was at that time at the age of ten years old. The affiant futher said Ernest Schick stayed with them several years and she is positive that he was born in the year 1900 and the affiant says furthernot. Subscribed to and sworn to before me this 11th day of March A.D. 1947 Bert W. Booth Notrary Public My commisssion expires December 10, 1950 Also I have from Bureau of the Census dated 12 Sep 1961 an exact copy of the census record of 1920 at 404 Shoemaker, Leavenworth County Leavenworth, Kansas that Ernest Schick was a Boarder at the age of 19 and the Place of birth states New York. He was enumerated in the family of Joseph and Gertrude Biltz. On this day 14 March 1995 while I was outside working in the yard, cleaning up clippings from the apple trees, Bev called to me and made the motion to cut the engine of the chipper/shreader. I asked what she wanted and she said please come to the front of the house. Dillon was with her so I knew that Caren was here. I went into the house making mention that I could have gone into the house through the back door, but what the heck, I need the walk. Bev mentioned that Caren wanted me to solve a riddle. When I got inside I asked what the riddle was. She said, "What do you call a black and white cow. I said a holestine. She said, What do you call a brown cow? I said a Jersey. She said when you apply for a job and get it you have a ......job? New was the answer. I said Jersey, new......what???? She presented me with the cirtificate of birth of dad. Yes he was born in Newark New Jersey not New York, New York. The cirtificate had what I have been looking for for 30 years. I called mom and told her. Actually Caren told her because I couldn't contain myself. I talked to mom and explained what the process was in finding this information. Mom was very thankfull and happy. I havn't had such a wonderful blessing for a long time. I needed it. I hugged Caren and Hugged her and hugged her. She was thrilled too. She did mention a couple of weeks ago that since we haven't heard from them, that the search is continuing. To the person that did find it and went to all the work in researching, thank you. Thank you Lord for all the blessings you have given us. I pray that I can obey all the commandments and grow more to be a better person and Love All.
