III, 72, of 2000 Cambridge Avenue, Wyomissing, Pa., died Monday, February 14, 2000 at 5 p.m. in the skilled care unity of The Highlands Of Wyomissing (Berks County, Pa.), where he had been a patient since December 19 t h. He was the husband of June E. (LaMotte) Gwyn. Born in Chatham Hill, Virginia (Smyth County), he was a son of the late John M. and Ivy Madeline (Travis) Gwyn. He was last employed as a field engineer for the Mutual Inspection Bureau, Harrisburg, Pa. for 20 years, last working in June 1998. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, where he was a former church councilman and past president of church council in 1975. He was also a past chairman of the property committee. He was a 1951 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va. (now Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), having earned a BS degree in Animal Husbandry. He completed the first Master Gardener Course Program at the Berks County Agricultural Center. A member of the Rajah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Reading, Pa., he was past president of the Director's Staff. Active in the Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America, he was a former scoutmaster in Fritztown, Pa. He was presently President of the Welsh Society of Berks County and was the present Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Welsh Society. He was Chairman of the Grounds Committee of the Resident's Association at the Highlands at Wyomissing. He was an Army veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John M. Gwyn, Panama City, Florida and David W. Gwyn, Lansdale, Pennsylvania; also one daughter, Sallie C. (Gwyn) Weber, Lincoln Park, Pa.; two sisters, Carolyn (Gwyn) Campbell, Saltville, Va. and Madeline (Gwyn) Pearson, Roanoke, Va. Also surviving are two grandchildren. Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, Pa. 19610. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in Bean Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 425 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, Pa. Contributions may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church.
