a. Note:   r, Martha, so is first mentioned in the 1851 Chaddleworth census (record 61) as a 9 year old, though not a scholar as his twin is termed! In the Chaddleworth Census of 1861, he is shown as being a 19 year old agricultural labourer living with his parents (record 72). He has left home by 1871 (record 17).
  By 1881, he is a 40 year old, married to Rhoda and living with her, 4 children from her first marriage - Amos, Rosa H, Clara B and Eliza J Wooldridge - and their own first-born, Henry G Barnes at Southend, Brightwalton (record 5). By 1891, he is recorded as a 49 year old living at Lower End, Chaddleworth (record 63) with Rhoda, his stepson, Amos Wooldridge(25) and Henry G(11), who, by then had been joined by Alfred(9), James(7), Albert(5) and Edgar(2). The latter 2 had been born in Chaddleworth whereas James had been born in Brightwalton so the family must have moved about 1884.
  Henry remained an agricultural labourer, although, in the 1901 census, he is described as a 59 yaer old woodman, living in the Round House (entry 44).
