a. Note:   aged 8 and living at Warren Farm, Childrey in 1851 (entry 6). By 1861, he appears to be the only child still living with his widowed mother and is shown as a 12 year old Shepherd Boy (entry 30)!. By 1871, aged 28 and an Agricultural Labourer, he is married to Louisa and living with her, Henry and Mirah (entry 90) in Childrey. By 1881 entry 91, he has moved to Stowell and he and Louisa have 7 children living with them - Thomas, John, Charles, George and Martha having joined the first two. Shown as a Shepherd in 1881 and 1891 Childrey censuses, by the latter (entry 82), he and Louisa also have 7 of their children living with them but Kate, Beat and Albert have been added to the family.
  By 1901 (Sparsholt entry 55), he is atill a shepherd but aged 58 and has two of his children - Albert (13) and John (25) and a grandson, John's son, Henry John (3) living with him and Louisa at Westcott.
