a. Note:   s on 28 August 1937 at Christ Church, Reading. They lived at 148 Hartland Road for much of their married life. He had quite a fiery temper and, as a result wouldn't speak to his brothers and his son for years at a time.
  He had been granted early retirement on health grounds but still amnaged to run for a bus if necessary. He used to comment on how many 50 - 60 year olds had died.
