Notes
a. Note:   NORWAY: The research on the ancestry of Juliana Rebecca Fredriksdatter of Norway was productive. Her birth and marriage records were obtained and her ancestry was extended back three addtional generations, except for one line. Additional leads were identified that should prove helpful in extending the ancestry back another two or three more generations in Norway.
This report (included as family reseach notes herein) gives a summary of the research strategies and records that were searched for each of the families represented here. Full documentation and notes are found on the enclosed famil group records documenting each of the sources that were searched and the variou information that was found in them. The only abbreviation used in this report is: chr=christening.
In doing this research and after finishing this research, the IGI was searched and several of the names listed in this report have been extracted and temple work performed for them. Although this appears to be the case for most of the marriage records and many of the christening records, apparently whoever did th extraction work missed children in each of these families. There appears various temple work that could be submitted on each family to make them complete.
Illegitimacy was not found to be common in this parish during the period that was researched. The birth records for the menttioned families were searched beginning about a year prior to the marriage of the parents, but no illegitimat children were found.
There appears much more that can be done, although further research will probably prove to be more difficult because of the condition of the earlier records. The chrtistening records of Velfjord Parish go back to 1677 and apper to be fairly continuous. As all of the ancestry identified so far, except that of Christiane Pedersdatter, come from the parish of Velfjord, it should be possible to extend the ancestry of most these families back another 2-3 generations. As identified previously in this report, there are some good indications and leads for the next generation for at least three of these families.
Based on ages listed in the death records, 1801 census, and other documents, approximate dates of birth have also been established for each of these ancestors. Using these approximate dates of birth, it should be possible to locate their christening records if they were christened in Veljford Parish as well. On the other hand, it should be noted that these earlier records from 1677 -1752 ae much more difficult to read because of the format the ministers and records kept from that era. It may be more time consuming to extend these earlier generation of the family. By Gary T.
