Soloman Walker Wigley married twice. His first wife was Judeth Cantrell (1819-1849), daughter of Elijah Cantrell and Rebecca Ann ?. His second wife was Malinda Eveline Harrell. Soloman escorted the Cherokees along the Trail of Tears with Captain Tuggle's Company of Georgia Volunteers. He received land in Gwinnett County, Georgia for this service. In 1870, Soloman shows up on the census of Freestone County with his children listed in two separate households. Soloman is buried in Union Cemetery in Freestone County, Texas. His tombstone has a hand holding an open Bible at the top. Underneath are the words, "In memory of S. W. Wigley Born Dec. 11, 1811 Died June 26, 1893 I am the resurrection and the life, He that believeth in me though he were dead yet shall he live." He may have served in the Confederate Army while he lived in Alabama, but his service record has not yet been located. The Betty Moss Morrow's book, Veterans of Freestone County, Texas includes him as a Civil War veteran and names the Beene and Norton families as the source of that information.
