Note: William "Jerome" as he was called was a logger in Pa. Married in 1880 to Ida Irene Hess there were 9 children in this family one, a girl,died in infancy. Jerome spent the last years living with his son Harold and was a regular at Harolds restaurant. He had lived for a time in the state of Washington with his son Ernest where he supervised intensive farming. He was laid to rest by his wife Ida in Wildwood cemetary. Unfortunatly today his gravestone is no longer present. Obituary for William Jerome Guthrie: WILLIAM J. GUTHRIE DIES IN SO. BEAVER TWP. William Jeorme Guthrie 88 died early Wednesday afternoon in the home of his son and daughter in law Mr. and Mrs. Harold Guthrie,South Beaver TOwnship.He had been il about 3 weeks and the end came suddenly in the arms of his devoted son who had been a constant companion during the last week. Funeral services wil be held at 3:o'clock Friday in the Guthrie Country home,where the aged man lived in quiet serenity for sveral years. the service will be condusted by the Rev. Robert W. Borden,paster of the Bridgewater Methodist Church. Throughout his life,Mr. Guthrie was devoted ot the Methodist church. He was a fin christian gentleman,who believed and practiced the golden rule as the standard of his daily life. The body was taken to the sheets and todd funeral home,Bridgewater and returned to the Guthrie home this afternoon. Friends will be recieved there this evening and tomorrow . Fridy night relatived willl accompany the body bly trian from Beaver to Williamsport, Pa., for burial in the Wildwood cemetary Saturday beside the devoted wife who has been ddead since 1921. Born and raised in the vicinity of Williamsport,Mr. Guthrie was for many years engaged as a contractor in the lumbering business in north central Pennsylvania. He loved to recall the experiances of his young manhood in the rugged woods and timberlands. But he deplored the terrible waste resources in later years. In later life, since the death of his wife,Mr. guthrie devoted considerable time to special farming until his ocmplete retirement a few years ago. For a time he lived with a son in Washington,where he supervised intensive farming. Surviving are two other sons and a daughter: Verus,Erie and Ernest,Washington,and Mrs. C'L.White,Beaver; a brother Rev. Hiram Guthrie past 91 years old and retired Northumberland,Pa. a sister Mrs Lititia Harrison a widow 90,South Williamsport. She is i excellent health,does her own housework and cares for an invalid son in her home. There are several grandchildren. The Guthrie restaurant in Beaver is closed until late Saturday afternoon.
