Note: ubject: Mehetabel Emerson Date: Thu, 19 Nov 1998 02:47:47 EST From: Amwesw@@aol.com To: jcricket@@cecomet.net I don't know if anyone has sent this info along to you, but here goes: Kendall Emerson, son of James and Mary (Farrar) Emerson, was born at Reading, MA, October 31, 1745. He married Mehetabel Parker on September 18, 1770. They lived in Reading, MA. Kendal Emerson was a Revolutionary Soldier, and served as a private in Bachellor's company, Bridge's regiment, and Wyman's company, Gerrish's regiment, and later, as guard to the Burgoyne prisoners. Kendall and Mehetabel (Parker) Emerson had two children: 1: Mehetabel Emerson born: July 26, 1771 in Reading, MA she was married to Benjamin Pratt on April 27, 1792 2: John Pratt Emerson born: October 11, 1777 Hope this helps Scott Dee I had a quick look at some of my resources with reference to the Pratt family of Welland. Your Benjamin F. appears on assessment rolls back to 1838 but is not in earlier records that I have. There are no Pratts in either the 1828 census of Welland County or the 1828 - 1829 militia muster rolls. These two items are fairly comprehensive and lead me to believe that Benjamin is not from Welland originally. There are several possibilities for his origin. In the 1861 census it says he is born in Ontario. Therefore, looking at the 1828 muster rolls, the only two areas with families named Pratt are Leeds - Grenville or Carleton. These might be worth a snoop. The other possibility is that the garrison at Fort Erie had a captain by the name of Pratt with the 5th Regiment of Foot when the fort was established in 1795. This is probably a very slim possibility as there are no other Pratts in the area. By the way, the 1857 Directory of the Province of Ontario lists Benjamin F. and Clarke as shoemakers at Crowlandville and Richard as a Sawyer also of Crowlandville. Hope this helps Richard Hirst, UE, St. Catharines '01 census of Crowland and saw these, couldn't tell if you had them or not , so I thought I'd send them along. I'll check the original next time I'm at the library. If Mable was a US citizen, the most likely location is just the other side of the border in Niagara Falls or Buffalo. It's all that cross-border shopping stuff, grass is always greener, etc. <VBG> I went to Westfield town clerk and got a copy of Benjamin F. Pratt's death cert. The TC xeroxed the total pages and taped together. I read what I could on Pratt name in Westfield. Town Clerk has only 1881 to 1913 death cert book. Anything before 1881 was burned up. There is only the one entry for PRATT from 1881 -1890. I'll look later for further dc on Pratt 1891-1913 As follows: Westfield,NY Death Certificate 1881-1913 entry no. 369 death date: Nov. 29[1889] Name: Benjamin F.
