1. Title:   Tombstone

Notes
a. Note:   Martha Carolyn Head, "Aunt Carrie" deserves more than passing tribute. She possessed a strong sense of duty, a willingness and skill that made her indispensable in the home after the other girls were married. Three younger brothers and their friends made a lot of cooking and dish washing. Hogs were killed, the meat cured and lard rendered at home. Cows were kept and milk and butter were home products. Game was brought in to be prepared and cooked. All vegetables were grown in the garden. Aunt Carrie had a large share in all this though I am sure that help was often called in. Still she did the ironing for the family. All shirts, underwear, and work clothing were made at home. That her health, physical, and mental suffered is not surprising; yet she lived to past eighty and rests with the others in the Henson Cemetery.
