a. Note:   The family came to Eugene from Rockville in 1847 and consisted of Thomas J McClelland (with a D on the end), his wife Ann McGinnis McClelland and five children-William, James B., Joseph B., Martha and John. They owned and lived on Out Lot 29, which would be immediately north of the Eugene Cemetery. It was the sale of this lot after Thomas died on 1849 that caused the names of the minor children to be listed as minor heirs, as for some reason only John, Joseph and Martha were listed in the census.
