Notes
a. Note:   In about 1890 Zadus took his family, joined a wagon train of about a dozen families from around the Booneville, Mississippi area and went to Indian Territory. They settled in the Thackerville area. In 1895 his wife died. In 1896 he carried a bale of cotton to the Marrieta Gin. While there he purchased a marriage license. On his way home he stopped by the home of Effie Lee (Wells) McKenzie and called her out and handed her the marriage license. He had never courted her nor did he have her consent for marriage. She laughed and then cried but accepted his proposal. She was a widow with one daughter Floy. He later moved his family to Montague Co. Tx. near Sunset. He bought his first farm and later bought five others and rented them to tenant farmers. He was a shrewd business man dealing in real estate, farming and horse trading. He also owned the first car in his community, a long black touring car. He is buried in Crafton Cmetery in Wise Co. Tx.
