Note: Jack played the trumpet and trombone in the Jersey Shore High School Band. After high school, he went to Lock Haven State Teachers College he graduated with a 2 year teaching degree. He joined the CCC and taught high school equivalency course to the CCC men. He was stationed at Belfonte and Eagles's Mire, Pa. He met Ruth Van Tassell while visiting his sister Irene in Wayland. It was a long distance romance (mostly letters). Ruth was studying to be a dental assistant in Rochester. They were married there on May 18, 1935. He had cancer for almost 7 years (sarcoma on his kidney) but died of results of a stroke in March 1990.
