Note: Never married. In 1759 he was assessed a Bachelor's Tax of 100 pounds as all males over 25 years of age were so taxed. He died in the home of his brother Dennis , and left his entire estate of 710 pounds to Joseph , son of John . {Madsen. p. 7} In the settlement of his estate, Dennis filed suit against Joseph , executor of Darby's estate, claiming considerable money due him for his care of the deceased during six months of illness. {R.T. Shawhan, p. 3} Even though Darby, Jr. apparently spent the last six months of his life in the home of his brother, Dennis, Darby left his estate to Joseph, the son of his brother, John. Joseph is listed as administrator of the estate. John and Shadrack are closest of kin. Dennis is not mentioned. Research: 18 Sept 1767. Will of Darby Shawhan, Jr. Names "Joseph, son of my brother, John, executor...." Also wills everything to Joseph. Witnesses: Jonathan Turner and Gideon Hayne. Darby signed his name. 6 Oct 1767.
