From the SHAWN FAMILY HISTORY NEWSLETTER, SUMMER 1987: The descendents of John are presented in this section in chronological order along with the primary and secondary historical sources. This is in keeping with one of the purposes of the newsletter which is to make the original content of the historical sources available to family members. The chronology begins with John, the second son of Darby and Sarah.
John remained on the farm in Kent County, Maryland and passed the property to his son Joseph and to Joseph's descendents. Portions of Darby's Desire remained in this branch of the family for four generations after Darby. Rose T. Lane and Martha Willis, both direct descendents of Darby Shawhan, continue to maintain the unbroken family presence on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
