Note: The eldest daughter, Sarah, married Edward Dyer, son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Dyer. Edward died in 1749 and Sarah administered the estate in Kent County.

Preliminary research confirms that Sarah Shawhan, daughter of Darby Shawhan and Sarah Meeks married Edward Dyer in 1735. Two daughters include Mary (b. 1738) and Sarah (b. 1745).
In 1647 Edward's will was appraised. Next of kin were Elizabeth Berry and Sarah Peare. In the same year the agent for the Lord Proprietary leased 90 acres to Sarah, widow of Edward, her daughter, Sarah, and her brother, David. David, Darby and William had been given to Sarah by her mother until they reached age 21.
Daughter Mary is not mentioned in the land document and may have died. Darby had left his sister's house as he was over 21. David is 21 at the time but remained with his sister. Of William there is no mention and his location remains unknown.
In 1763 the estate of one Sarah Brookes, Quaker of Kent County is appraised. Dennis Shahan is listed among the creditors. Dennis "Shawton" and David "Shawton" are listed as next of kin. My current hunch is that "Shawton" is simply a misreading of Shawhan and Sarah Brookes is Sarah Shawhan Dyer. Henry Brookes, member of the Cecil Co. Quaker Meeting was condemned in 1749 for marrying outside the Quaker Meeting and his will arranges for the childrent to be raised Quaker. Sarah had three more daughters with Henry Brookes. Henry Bodien, administrator for Henry Brookes, gave some Shads Hole property to his daughter Hannah and was a neighbor of the Shawhans.
