Notes
a. Note:   Obituary: ALFRED RECTOR Alfred Rector was born at North Carolina on June 4, 1858 and passed away at his home in the Argo community on Sunday, March 18, 1956 at the advanced age of 97 years, 9 months and 14 days. Mr. Rector was first married to Miss Louise Venson in 1883 and to this union four children were born. A son, George, and infant daughter and Mrs. Rector preceded him in death. In 1889 he married Miss Fannie McCune and to this union thirteen children were born. Three sons, John Henry, Harry and Russel died, and Mrs. Rector preceded him in death in 1927. He was united in marriage to Josephine Mitchell in 1930 and she survives him along with the following twelve children: Norman Rector of Cuba; Mrs. Florence Tayloe of Owensville; Chas. Rector of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Myrtle Rowland of Dexter; Mrs. Iva McCann of Union; Mrs. Hettie Vaughan of Bayard, Iowa; Frank Rector of Bourbon; Mrs. Elthie Hines of Cuba; Mrs. Edith Vaughan of Labadie; Mrs. Elma Thompson of Belle; Oscar Rector of Fenton; and Dennis Rector of Washington, Mo. Surviving also are his sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, 45 grandchildren, over 60 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two stepsons, Ezra and Colonel Giek, other relatives and many friends. His three brothers, Titus, Alonzo, and Jonas Rector preceded him in death. Mr. Rector was a kind and loveable and jovial man who held a warm spot in the hearts of all who knew him. His outlook on life was to live honest and honorably among his fellow men and always treated others kindly. The manner in which he moved about day by day and the way he thought and spoke was a great source of joy both to the young and old. We have lost one whom we all loved and we can truly say that his family and all who knew him will miss him. The memory of him will live on and his many fine points will be a source of consolation in the hearts of those who survive him. Mr. Rector was in state at the Hoener Funeral Home in Bourbon until noon Wednesday when he was taken to the Oak Hill Baptist church where services were held at 2 p.m. Elder Oliver Mullen officiating with favorite hymns being sung by Mrs. Lucille Stephens and Mrs. Gerry Mullen, accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Cartwright. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Ferd Underwood, C.G. Antisdel, Ed Winklemann, Frank Roach, Joe Binder and Elmer Bacon.
