He was accompanied by his wife and 5 eldest sons.They had been sponsored by William Leneghan, Johns' brother-in-law who wasa successful gold prospector and at the time ran a small hotel at Evlinton a satellite of Ravenswood.John was or became an 'engine driver' and operated a steam engine plant that served a gold mine.At some stage one of his elder sons ???? migrated to the USA probably California.It in known that 2 of this sons children then migrated back to England and becamewell known in the British film industry as (female) actress and (male) cinematographer.John and most of his family later moved south to the then new Sydney suburbof Mosman where he and then his sons ran a dairy for many years.
