a. Note:   William Andrew Currier resided 14 miles northwest from Paisley, where he engaged in stock raising. He was born at Corvallis, Benton county, Oregon on Octo 12, 1851. His father, Jacob Manley Currier, was born in Irasburg, Vermont, February 12, 1827. He went with his parents to New York state in 1842, and then journeyed to Missouri in 1844 and two years later, crossed the plains with his brother in law, A. L. Humphrey and two sisters. They settled on a donation claim near Corvallis. He took part in the Cayuse Indian war. In August, 1850 he married Maria Foster, who was born in Coshocton county, Ohio on April 11, 1834. Her father, Andrew Foster, found in the War of 1812. Mr. A. L. Humphrey was a member of the first Oregon legislature. William camre to Lake county in 1875 and settled at Summer Lake. He married on January 19, 1875 to Miss Kitty E. Hadley. He was one of Lake counties most prominient and respected citizens and had the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. He had been instrumental with others in making the county what it is today and was very faithful in his labors. He had been elected commissioner of the county, and it prospered beyond expectations and was entirely out of debt at that time and he desires the credit for bringing about those desirable ends. He was a successful businessman and had accumulated a snug fortune since he came to Lake county. He owns 1700 acres of land, all under fence, good comfortable house and barns; and raised all kinds of fruits and vegetables. He also owned 2000 head of cattle and was considered one of the largest horse owners in Central Oregon, owning over 1000 head of these valuable animals Paternally, Mr. Currier was a memeber of the IOOF Lodge No 177 of Paisley..
