a. Note:   " 22nd Texas Infantry. He enlisted at Quitman Texas March 4, 1862 and was released from duty at the close of the war at Navasota Texas in April of 1865. The war department records state that J. W. Patrick, private, was captured March 14, 1864 and was exchanged July 22, 1864. The record states J. W. Patrick was born in Titus County, Texas, however, Titus County was not a county in 1842 (was part of Red River County, Texas). His son Albert Kelly Patrick provided information for Application For Mortuary Warrant. His casket cost $28.00 and robe and ct. was $17.00.
  1850 listed with father and mother, boy age of 9 , in Upshur County Tex 1860 Wood County cenus reel M653-1308 Holly Springs Post ofc page 368 household 335-328 states: John W. Patrick and Matilda married within the year. 1870 Wood Count census page 559 line 26 states J. W. cannot read or write, however, the 1900 census was marked he could read and write. 1880 Wood Cty census page 337 line 44 1890 census burned

  1910 Wood Cty Texas census states John W. Patrick was a survivor of the Confederate Army. John and "Lucy" live down the Alba road from his son, Walter, and his family Addie and children. "Lucy" is about 18 years younger than J. W. and she married a Prather after J. W. died.
  It has been said that another child, Drucilla, the same age as Walter Jackson Patrick was raised by John W. She married Willie Green of Greenville, TX.
  Some of the information regarding complete names, dates, etc of J. W. Patrick's children was furnished by Thelma Bailey Patrick - she had a sheet of paper that one of the old timers furnished the information in their beautiful handwriting.
