Note: Perry's son James Oliver Pierce in 1884. they were stepbrother and sister. Mary ann Gazzaway was Born in Illinois, Indian Territory in 1839. Her father was from South Carolina and her Mother from Tenn. She was a full Blood Cherokee Indian. Mary's daughter was 1/2. Mary ann and her children and her daughter in law who reportedly was Full Blood Choctaw were all listed in records. The Gazzaway name does appear on Indian Name lists at Ardmore Oklahoma. Thomas and Maryann believed to have died before 1900. the Pierce and Yarbrough families moved to Rosston about 1905. Mary ann Died at Rosstonand her Death Certificate under the name of Pierce, the cause of Death was Nervous Prostration (Extreme Physical weekness), she was buried at Rosston Cemetary, it bears no monument. Mary's daughter by a former marriage to William Albert married Perry Oliver Pierce's son James Oliver Pierce, that is how the pierce's tie into the Yarbrough's. Lum was a Grandson. Have an obit for him: Lum Pierce age 47 of Forestburg was found unconsious with a Bullet hole through the head. His limp body was about 20 feet from his truck which had been left on the road, a .32 Cal. Automatic was near the body. He was taken to the hospital where he died Monday night, they say the wound was self inflicted. He had a milk route between Forestburg, Tx and Bowie Tx, and had collected milk for the Bowie Cheese Factory for the past two years. He is survived by wife and six children. He died October 11, 1938 in Bowie Texas. A letter written by Carl Albert in 1970 stated Maryann married William Albert at Denton City Texas. William was Born in Marion County, Illinois in 1834 and immigrated to Denton Texas in 1853 along with other relatives They married in 1857. Their first Child William Franklin was Born 1858 (His monument shows 1861, the dates show different on census). A picture was made of Maryanns Family in the spring of 1906 near Rosston Texas in SW Cook county texas. It shows her with her Daughter Sarah Jane, Grandchildren: Irene and William Pierce to her left and back. to her right shows her son Robert yarbrough with his wife Sarah Elizabeth Anderson, to the Back is Louie one of the twins,, Thomas, Carroll and Bertha. Estimating Bertha to be one year old in the picture places its making in the spring as the plants in the background had leaves. Mary anns Death Certificate is under Pierce.
