Notes
a. Note:   rrections by ABG): Aletha's father was a stern man. When she was 16, she in that time was supposed to be a young lady. On Sunday afternoons they would race horses. One Sunday her father came home and found her racing horses and he became very angry with her and her mother. So he said he was going to punish her and send her off to girl's school to learn decorum. Letha rebelled, ran away from home, and married the son of her father's overseer. Her father was so angry he said she could never darken their door again. She lived not far away, as shown by the census records, but was never allowed to come back into the house. She had a little sister named Louisa who said that her mother died of a broken heart, since her little daughter was not allowed to come back home. When her first husband (Abraham Smith) died, she came to Texas with her children in a wagon. The only other person with her was a black man named Clark. They came to Hill County and met Elijah T. Goodwin who already had a big family himself. His wife had just died and although he was 30 something years older, they married and had our family. Ceaborn was the last to be born when Elijah was 74. Letha had a total of 11 children. Ceaborn's name (Seborn or as Ceaborn spelled it Seaborn) came from the Lewis line.
