Notes
a. Note:   it was in Monroe County. She has died before the 1850 census as she is not listed with her husband John Cooke, Jr.
It is evident that she has had some education as she wrote her own permission to marry and then signed her name. It is also on the John Cooke, Jr. farm that the first school of Wyoming County was established in their barn in 1820. Paul Blankenship suggests that perhaps it was at the insistence of John's wife Jennie as they would have had seven children born between 1806-1820. Their last daughter was born in 1823.
According to the Reference Book of Wyoming County History, John and Jennie replaced their original frame home somewhere around 1820. They had substantial property located between the McDonald Plantation and Oceana. They owned slaves and raised stocks that they grazed on Huff Creek land.
Their home was also a regular meeting place as John was very active in local affairs as one of the promoters of the formation of Logan County in 1824 and Wyoming County in 1850.
Note:   Married Nov. 5, 1805, in Va. Some sources say in Giles while others state that
