Note: , 1783. His only child by her was Jennie. His second wife was Elizabeth Williams whom he married Oct. 4, 1789. She raised Jennie. Jacob served as a soldier in 12th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Army in the American Revolution. He was in the battles of Brandywine Creek, Germantown, and was at Valley Forge. He was discharged from a Valley Forge Hospital, ill and crippled, on February 20, 1778. A traditional story recorded in Giles County, Virginia, History and Families (1982) and The History and Genealogy of the Cooke Family of Wyoming County, WV, by Paul Blankenship, states that Jacob Albert died in 1856 "after riding a mule near Mountain Lake when a storm came up. He took shelter under an overhanging rock. When found the next morning, he was sitting upright under the rock, his mule tied to the tree. He apparently died from a heart attack at age 99."
