Note: the oldest daughter of Hobart and Ina Gunter, she had a twin brother named Harry. She was an A student at Pineville High School in the early 1940's before having to drop out of school to support her family. During WWII, she worked in Baltimore, Maryland. After marrying a childhood friend that she had remet in Maryland during WWII, she came back to Pineville. When her daughter was in grade school, Lucille returned to graduate from Pineville HS, a proud moment for her. She worked for the State Road Department, but as a Republican, she lost her job when a Democrat was elected Governor. She also worked as a store clerk in several different stores. After her first husband died with cancer in 1963, she went to work for Appalachian Power Company from which she retired. On May 25, 1974, she remarried to Dennis Stewart, another childhood friend, in Giles County, Va. She was a lifelong member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville and a great mother, neighbor, and friend. Note: Lucille was actively involved in politics and church during her adult life. As
