a. Note:   Amy was the 1st child born, with 9 more to follow. Her school days were few, but she was an advent student to the bible. She was a devout Mormon. Amy and Orson first went to Teldon, Idaho where they met only with misfortune. Their land was inundated by the waters of the American Falls Dam. Their son Dan was born in Teldon. A relative of Orson's, Alvirus Rice, went to California, Santa Cruz County, and finally talked Orson into moving his family there too. San Jose, California became their home in 1910. Amy identified herself with the L.D.S. church, although Orson did not and was bitter toward her church and its teachings. Amy grew up in a home where her parents had separated, and the unity that rightly belonged to her in early years was lacking again, disunity was extended to her in later years when she and Orson separated. Orson had been in his forties when he had finally married Amy so the wide span of age differences may have been one factor in their disunity.
