Notes
a. Note:   REFN: 139 Notes for Solomon s/o Immigrant Christian !I have this note: "The Sackriders are of Oblong." Solomon Sackrider charged to Henry Bailey's account at the Sleight store in Greenhaven Ca. 1772. This is the same store where a Baker traded along with his sons, one of whom was a Henry Baker. !John Donnelly, Solomon Sackrider and Henry Baker were witnesses to the will of Francis Beaty of Rumbouts Prect., written 1779; filed Feb13, 1784. !The IGI has Solomon, Mary and John in Saratoga 6/6/1783. !Solomon paid taxes in Rumbout 1773-9 !Sheila McGivern writes that she has a reference to Solomon Sackrider from a book called, "On the Trail of the Black Walnut', about the settlement of the area around Norwich. It says that eleven farmers and their wives, and families comprising 89 people arrived in 1811.I don't have the exact quote but it said that they were Quakers and that coming from Dutchess Co. N.Y., the men were Peter Lossing, Michael Stover, Fred Stover, Adam Stover, Sears Mold, Sam Cornwell, Sol.Sackrider, Peter Delong, and Peter M'Lees. Eias Moore came from Nova Scotia and John Syple from Albany, N.Y. The M'Lees family shows up many times in the various Censuses I've studied as close neighbours. Later on it is spelled "McLes" and l suspect that Catherine MeCless, the wife ofNehemiah Sackrider, was of the same family.
