Elsie recalled that he had come over when he was 17 years of age (with $2 and a swimming bag). That woiuld have breneabout 1879. Other members of his home town had settled there. Lived in Passaic, NJ. He was described by his cousin Charles Siegendorf in 1989 as "Rather tall, Asthmatic, passed away before Blema, came over to the US with his cousin first, saved up and sent for his wife. He was listed ion his death certificate as a Poultry Dealer, he alsowas the first Jewis baker in Passaic ( opened a shop in 1888). He has two sisters: Lena and Jeannie Becker in California." He was a member of the Joseph Spitz Lodge and Pride of Jersey.
