a. Note:   Journal July 8, 1899. This community was shocked on Tuesday evening to learn of the sudden death of Carl Schreyer. He became violently sick on Monday evening after returning home from a visit to Dan Dingler's home. He had been a sufferer of heart trouble for many years. The immediate cause of his demise was paralysis of the brain. He was unconscious from Tuesday evening. He was 66 years old and was born in Germany. The deceased came to America when a youth and located in Wisconsin. In 1863 he came to Minnesota and during his life acquired over 400 acres of land in Town Cottonwood. Five sons, three daughters and a wife survive him. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon and the A. O. U. W. lodge conducted the services. Rev. Firgau also officiated and delivered addresses at the house and at the grave.
