Notes
a. Note:   [Langley.FTW]
Per Mary Claire Cox, granddaughter of Thomas Langley (born 1858), she received much of the family material that she placed in the "History of Gwinnett County, Georgia" section on the Langley Family, from her mother. Thomas gave her the names of the brothers and sisters of his grandfather, Rev. Thomas T. Langley, and he thought that his great grandfather was also a Thomas Langley. That might have been this Thomas.
Per W. Clarence Langley, g-grandson of Enoch and Elizabeth, he has no records of them other than their names. He mentioned 5 brothers (sons of Thomas) including Enoch W., Miles, Jeptha, Thomas, and an unnamed 5th who was never found after the Civil War.
Mary Claire Cox by April 1983, after consulting with Jacquelyn Cannon of Georgia, had determined that Thomas and Esther (Kitchens) Langley were related to her family line rather than Mary's as she previously thought. Thomas and Esther were married in 1815 in Caswell Co., NC, thus they were late arrivals in Gwinnett Co., GA. Mary said they settled in the upper part of the county around Suwanee. Mary is a descendent of Thomas T. Langley, who was born 1807 in Gwinnett Co., GA per the 1850 census. Thomas and Esther were not in Georgia in 1807. Therefore, this Thomas would not be the spouse of Esther Kitchens as some genealogists have believed.
Thomas Langley in index of 1820 Georgia census, Jackson County. See Index to US Census of Georgia 1820, Fort Worth TX Public Library, Ge neology 975.8 G. Miles Langley also listed in 1820 census. Mary Claire Cox assumed that this Thomas was the father of Thomas T., born 1807, per her letter dated April 1983 -- Grady Langley, Jr.
Note, Jackson County included the land which later became Gwinnett Co., GA.
A Thomas listed in the 1830 Gwinnett Co. GA census, pg 311, living near William Langley, also on pg. 311.
Mary Claire Cox found that Jeptha V. Langley mad a second return on the estate of Thomas Langley on July 21, 1856, and two years later in 1858, he was administrator of Enoch Langley's estate. Per Bill Couch (www.CouchGenWeb.com/family/langley.htm), Jeptha was administrator of Thomas' estate on Nov. 15, 1856.
