  In the Name of God Amen the tenth Day of June in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven Abraham Forrest Senr. of the Parish of Nottoway in the County of Amelia being weak in Body but of sound and perfect memory thanks be to God and calling to remembrance and uncertainty of this Life and that all flesh must yield unto death, when it shall please God to call Do make constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament revoking renouncing and making void all former Wills by me made either by word or writing and do acknowledge this to be my last Will and Testament and First being penitent and sorry for my Sins past most humble besieging Pardon and forgiveness for the same. I give and commit my Soul unto almighty God my Savior and Redeemer and my Body as a member of his Body I commit to the ground to be buried in a decent manner as my Executor hereafter mentioned shall think fit and convenient and now for the settling of my temporal Estate and such goods as it hath pleased God to vest upon me I do give and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to say First my will is that all my Debts I owe out right or contain to any person or persons whatsoever may be well and truly paid in due time after my decease by my Executor hereafter named.
  Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son John Forrest sixty Pounds Current Money of Virginia. Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son Abraham Forrest fifty Pounds Current Money of Virginia.
  Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son George Forrest fifty Pounds Current Money of Virginia and my Still.
  Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son Richard Forrest all my Land I now live on containing four hundred and eighty seven acres and the Negroes following to wit, Adam a Man, James a Man, Simon a Boy and Sarah a Girl to him and his Heirs forever But the intent and meaning of this Gift to my Son Richard Forrest is that in case he should die before he arrives to the Age of twenty one Years or Heir of his Body within the same Time that then my Will and desire is that it should be equally divided between my three daughters Elizabeth Motley, Mary Foster and Joyce Forrest to them and their Heirs forever.
  Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Motley fifty Pounds Current Money of Virginia. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Foster fifty Pounds Current Money of Virginia.
  Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Joyce Forrest fifty Pounds Current Money of Virginia.
  Item, I give and bequeath to my grandson Abraham Williams of Farnham Parish in Richmond County twenty five Pounds Current Money of Virginia.
  Item, I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Judith Williams of Farnham Parish in Richmond County twenty five Pounds Current Money of Virginia.
  Item, I lend and give the use of the following estate to my loving wife during her natural life Viz} Peter a Negro Man Jack a Negro Man Moll a Negro Woman Bess a Negro Woman, all my Horses, Cattle,Hogs, Sheep and all my Household Goods of all Kinds and Quality whatsoever which I shall die possessed of.
  Item, I will and order all my land in Gloucester County to be sold for cash to answer the aforesaid legacies. By my Executor hereafter named and that my son George who I shall leave executor execute deed or deeds or conveyances shall be as binding on my Heirs as if I myself had conveyed the fee simple Estate of or in such lands to the Purchaser or Purchasers thereof.
  Item, I give and bequeath to my Son John Forrest after the death of my loving wife, Peter a Negro Man and Bess a Negro woman with all her Increases from the Date hereof to him and his Heirs forever.
  Item, I give and bequeath to my Son Abraham Forrest after the death of my loving wife, Moll a Negro woman to him and his Heirs forever.
  Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son George Forrest after the death of my loving wife, Jack a Negro man to him and his Heirs forever.
  Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son Richard Forrest after the death of my loving wife, all my Estate which I have not already given away be it of what kind or quality soever to him & his Heirs forever. And Lastly I do constitute and appoint my wife Judith Forrest Executrix and my Son George Forrest Executor of this my Last Will & Testament and do direct and desire that my Executrix & Executor may not be compelled to give Security for the performance of this my last Will and Testament and that there be no appraisement of my Estate I also revoke all other Will or Wills by me heretofore made declaring this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament unto which I have here unto set my hand & affixed my Seal this tenth Day of June one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven.

  At a Court held for Amelia County February 22d 1759
  This Will was proved by the Oaths of Henry Ward Joseph Brown and Lawrence Brown the Witnesses thereto sworn to by George Forrest the Executor therein named and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said George who entered into and acknowledge bond with Jacob Garrot his Security as the Law direct Certificate was granted him for obtaining a Probate in due form, liberty being reserved to Judith Forrest the Executrix to join in the Probate when she shall think fit.   In the Name of God, Amen, I Abraham Forrest, of the County of Nottoway, being of sound mind & Memory, do make and ordain this to be My last Will and Testament in Manner and form as follows, that is to say first & principally I Committ my soul to Almighty God hoping to _____for pardon for all my sins. Secondly, I leave my body at the descretion of my Executors, hereafter named and As touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give in Manner and form as follows, to wit:
  I lend unto my loving wife, Judith Forrest My lands and plantation I live on, lying on the north side of flat Creek. Also my negroes not hereafter given away, Names Sarah, Sie, Toney, Dick, Nana and Sammy or the five that may be left after my son Josiah has received his; with all my stocks of cattle,sheep, hoggs & with My plantation, tools, household goods etc of All sorts to her My said Wife As long as she may live or remain a widow. Item, I give unto my son John Forrest my negro named Matt with a bed and furniture, stocks of cattle sheep etc that he has now in his possession, to him and his heirs forever. Item, I give unto my son Abraham Forrest the tract of land lying on the water of Sailors Creek and is the same land he now lives on. Also one negro named Peter, one bed and furnature, cattle, sheep, etc which he has in his possession to him and his heirs forever.
  Item, I give unto my son Josiah Forrest one hundred pounds cash to be raised out of my estate and my land lying on the east side of flat creek is to be sold to raise the money ____ at what it will sell for. Also I give him one of My negros, which at this time I cannot mention. also a bed, etc, sheep and cow and calf etc, the bed in his possession to him & his heirs forever.
  Item, I give unto my daughter, Elizabeth Mitchel the negro named Rachell, bed etc sheep, Cow and Calf, etc, to her & her heirs forever.
  Item, I give unto my daughter Judith Hurt the negro Eike, has bed, sheep cow and calf, etc, to her & her heirs forever.
  Item, I give unto my daughter Mary Foster and husband George the negro Fanny. Also bed, etc sheep cow and calf, etc, to her and her heirs forever.
  Item, I give unto my daughter Sarah Hurt one negro girl named Kate and her increase with the bed, cow and calf, sheep, etc, she has in her posession, to her & her heirs forever.
  Item, I give unto my daughter Bathsheba Jackson one negro girl named Mariah and her increase with the bed, cow and calf, sheep, etc, she has in her posession, to her & her heirs forever.
  Item, I give all estate of lands, stocks of all sorts, Household goods of all sorts, tools, etc, that I have lent unto My wife during her life & widowhood to be sold after her death and the money arising from Said sale to be equally divided amongest All my children to them and their heirs. And lastly I do appoint My Sons, John Forrest, Abraham Forrest and Josiah Forrest Executors to this my last Will and testament.   Nottoway County Court December 5 1793 This last will and testament of Abraham Forrest, decd, was offered in proof by Abraham and Josiah Forrest Executors hence named and was proved by the_______ , Willam Crafts Caraddick, Muse Atkinson and Natham Johnson, witnesses theron and is ordered to be recorded, And in the matter of the said Executors who took the oath of an executor also with James Cook and Muse Atkinson their Securities entered into and acknowledge a Bond as the law devises, probat _____ is granted the said executors in form.
