  A petition of Jacob Kent, to William Livingston Esqr., Captain General and Commander in Chief of New Jersey and to the Honorable Council and General Assembly sitting at Trenton. The Petitoner says he enlisted in the Continental Service in February 1776 and served until February 1780. Since he was Discharged a law has been passed by the legislature to make good the Soldier's pay. The Petitioner further asks that his case be taken into condiseration and he be allowed some reasonable satisfaction for his services.
  (It was signed, Jacob Kent.) Dated September 20, 1782. A Certification was made to that effect by Abm. Kitchel of Rockaway on September 11, 1782. Mr. Kitchel stated that Jacob Kent enlisted early in the Continental Service and behaved as a good soldier and a good friend to his Country and since he obtained a Discharge from that Service has done his Duty as a Militia Man and behaved always as honest good man for the welfare of his Country he being a neighbor to me since the Commencement of this War, except while in the Service as Witness my hand.) The Certification was signed by: Abm. Kitchel. (Ref. MSS Number 6092.
