Note: There are records that have Marcus's middle name spelled Ray, Rayne, Raynor, and Rainey. Since there was a William A. Rainey, farmer and minister, living in the same district as Edward Bernard Sharp (Marcus's father), it is supposed that he had a great influence on Edward who later named his first child after this minister. William A. Rainey was verified by Daphne Sim (Sharp): Roll #23 of June 24, 1880 census records in Hattiesburg, MS Public Library.
