a. Note:   Gladys died at the Methodist Hosptial in Hattiesburg, MS of coronory thrombosis (blood clot in heart) but she suffered for years with spinal arthritis which caused her to be bed ridden. Granddaddy bathed her and took care of her, despite the strain on him. She was buried at 2:00 p.m. on June 10, 1963 at Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS. Gladys was baptised in July 1902 by Rev. Joseph Bright at Mt. Pisgah PResbyterian Church in Cullman Cty, AL.
  She was called "Mother" by her daughters because they called their grandmother "Mama". Mama helped raise them. She was called "Granddaughter" by her grandchildren.[Dye family.FTW]
  Daphne and Hall had just gotten married and lived with Uncle George and they rented a bedroom in his house. Sharon lived with Granddaughter and Granddaddy. Granddaddy through a bottle of cola through the window of the car on their way to Pasgagola. Gladys got very angry and asked him why he did it, he said he thought the window was down.
  Sharon was about 9 in the 4th grade before they could buy a house big enough for Sharon to live in. Sharon unpluged a light at the same time ligtening struck and fried Sharon. They lived just a few blocks from the beach and took evening walks letting the gulf breeze blow through their hair.
  Granddaddy was very protective of Sharon.
  Gladys never liked Hall. She didn't think he was good enough for Daphne, he was a country bumpkin, but Daphne love him.
  Granddaughter never left the house without her hat and gloves. She was a real southern lady. Always wore a dress.
  They lived on Mamie Street. When Sharon was about 6 or 7, she climbed in a tree and couldn't get down. Gladys couldn't ger her down and tried to keep her calm until the postman came and he got her down.
  When Gladys was about 6 or 7, she jumped out of the barn into a vat of liquid lye where soap was being made because she thought she could fly. Gladys was hostess at the Community Center downtown and was booking special occasions (proms, banquets, etc). She was a good seamtress too. She made all the ballerina costumes for a recital at a dance school one year. She loved to knit. Granddaughter taught Carla how to knit and crochet.
