  I have the parents of John Lewis Cockrell as John S. Cockrell and Patsy Lewis, but I have one correspondent that disagrees with this linkage.

  John Lewis Cockrell moved to Greene County, Al. in 1821 with his parents. John began buying land in Noxubee County, Ms. in 1835 and married Malinda Parks there in 1842. John sold land in Noxubee County in 1844. One contact told me that John Lewis was 14 years of age when in arrived in Pickens County, Al with his parents, and he had a half brother named Will, or William.
