Notes
a. Note:   They lived the early years of their married life in the Boone Community and were members of Murphy Creek Baptist Church where Grady served as a deacon. Later the Barnhill's moved to Louisville where Grady was a mail carrier until his retirement at age 70. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Grand Master of the State of Mississippi. He was a member of the Eastern Star, and a deacon in the First Baptist Church. It is said by the family that Ed was part Indian. The family found out too late that they may have been eligible for land claims from the Government. Ed was a mean man and a heavy drinker. Sue married Ed against her father's wishes. Ed was never home but they never divorced. Ed constructed a large mercantile and post office building at Boone, MS. He owned and operated this business for several years. He sold the business and moved his family to Detroit, Michigan where he worked on a government job. He then moved to Brandenton, Florida with some of the family and died in 1964. One time when Sue became ill, her sister Ruby was caring for Sue when Ed came home. He was being very belligerent and Ruby told him to stop or she would hit him with a poker. He laughed and told Ruby he believed she would. Ruby was a small woman. When Ed died he left Sue a lot of money but they lived their whole life in poverty level housing and their children left to fend for themselves.

They must have been close to the Doss family because she named her son, Guy Doss. Once Sue became ill when Ruby, her sister, was just a girl. Ruby was there caring for Sue when Ed came home.
