a. Note:   Marcus and Daphne called their grandfather "Papa", and their grandmother "Mama". Charles lived in Greenville, MS. He worked on a seawall in Biloxi, MS. After Marietta died about 1931 or 1932, Papa went back to Cullman, AL where he married Miss Minnie. Charles and Minnie lived in Meridian, MS. After Minnie died, Papa moved in with Gladys and Marcus in Vicksburg. He moved to Grenada for a while and then back to Vicksburg. Around the time Sharon was 2-3, Charles married Aunt Zella, his brother Marion's widow. When Papa was living in Greenville, he worked on a sea wall in Biloxi. Marietta nearly downed there when she was about 4 years old.
