Notes
a. Note:   Annie Gertrude, or Gertie as she was called by her friends, was a housewife and never woked outside the home. Annie lived most of her life in Louisville, MS before moving to Memphis in 1927. Their early years of marriage, they lived in Electric Mills, MS. This is where the first electric saw mill in the state was located, thus the name Electric Mills. They later moved to Memphis, TN in 1927. She was a member of Speedway Terrace Baptist Church on Faxon. "Big Mama", as she was called, died at home at 1215 South Barksdale in Memphis after a long 14 year illness. Her daughter, Audrey, was living with her at the time. The funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on August 15, 1959 at the National Funeral Home in Memphis. Rev. Burney Proctor was presiding. She was buried at Memorial Park Cemetary in Memphis. (Carla's memories) I remember playing around the round close line in the back yard on Barksdale. They didn't have a dryer. Big Mama had very heavy facial hair over her top lip and a large mole on her face. She was very small and weak most of the time I saw her. (Elizabeth Ann Tucker Norvell Fisher's memories) Big Mama was a wonderful cook. Everytime Sonny and I ate there, she wanted us to eat more. When I was a little girl, she would bake cookies and I got to help. One time she made "prune whip" and I got so sick, I never ate prunes again.
