Cup, age 80, born N. Carolina." There is a tombstone for Jacob Cupp in a cemetery along the south fork ofthe Shenandoah at Port Republic, Virginia. I believe this is a differentJacob Cupp and not the one that married Sibby Breeding. This Jacob Cuppis the one listed as age 83, living with George Cupp, on the 1850Rockingham Cty., Va. census in the 56-1/2 District, Page 197, dwelling366; at the same time Jacob Cupp that married Sibby Breeding is listed onthe Laurel Cty., Ky. census in dwelling 269 living with his daughter.Tombstone reads: Jacob Cupp, Who was born Decír 14 1767 In Lancaster CoPA, Jan 12 1852, Aged 84 yrs & 29 days. Patricia Collins found a birthrecord in the Cocalico Reformed Church, Ephrata, Lancaster County,Pennsylvania showing John Jacob Kopf was born December 14, 1766Lancaster, Pennsylvania, son of Conrad Kopf. It appears that this is theJacob Cupp buried in Rockingham Cty., VA and not our Jacob. Following is part of a posting by Daniel Bly: "The Jacob Capp-Cupp whomarried Sibby Breeding in VA in 1788 IS NOT a son of Andrew Capp-Copp whodied in Shenandoah Co. Va. in 1801. That Andrew had a son Jacob, but hewas only born in 1780 and was still unmarried in 1807 when he sold hisland in Shenandoah Co. All Descendants of Andrew of Va. have gone by thename COPP." IT IS POSSIBLE THAT CHARLES AND RANSOM CUPP ARE CHILDREN OF JACOB CUPPAND SIBBY BREEDING, BUT SOME EVIDENCE INDICATES THEY ARE CHILDREN OFABIGAIL. I CURRENTLY HAVE CHARLES AND RANSOM ATTACHED TO ABIGAIL.
