Research by Marilyn Weinrich: BEGIN MARILYN'S FINDINGS: A marriage bond and permission to marry, dated 13 June 1815 in Grayson Co., VA can be found on the following film obtained through your nearest Family History Center. The film description is: Microfilm of original records at the Grayson County Courthouse in Independence, Virginia. Film #1928595 - Marriage bonds, v.2-4 1809-1937. Item 15-12 is a handwritten permission to marry and reads as follows: "These few lines may testify that I have granted lics. for Henry Meyer to marry my Daughter Caty Cup. This given from under my hand and seal." Signed by their individual marks, Jacob Cup and Sibby Cup. Item 15-12a: Know all men by these presents that we Henry Myers and Joseph Tiplon are held and firmly bound unto Wilson C. Nicholas Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia for the time being and his successors in the sum of One Hundred and fifty Dollars for which payment will and truly to be made we bind our heirs Excuters and administraters jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 13th day of June 1815. The conditions of this obligation is such that whereas the above bound Henry Myers hath this day obtained a license for his marriage with Caty Cup of Grayson County.
