My family comes from the northern part. Nybraaten is a not too uncommon name in Norway, however there were, and still are, two farms named Nybraaten in ?stre Slidre.
  Rogne is found several places in Norway, but with variations. One of them being in ?stre Slidre. A derivative of the name is Rognaas which coincidentally is the name of farms from a commune close to ?stre Slidre.
  However Rogness would have a different origin, most likely from the west coast of Norway, Hornhindal in Sogn of Fjordane Co., or from the middle of Norway, South Tr?ndelag Co. and most likely St?ren parish.
  Otherwise Rogne is well known in the US through a derivative name Rokne and Knute Rokne, the famous coach from Notre Dame. This family comes from the west coast of Norway.
