a. Note:   Published on Page 2 of The Salem News on Saturday, 15 Jan 1994, was the following obituary of "Howard Burnham, 71, WWII Navy Pilot" Danvers, Massachusetts. Howard Russell (Russ) Burnham, 71, a resident of 20 Berry St., a former employee of the General Electric Plant in Lynn, died Thursday evening in Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Portland, Maine, Mr. Burnham had lived in Danvers since 1946. He graduated from the General Electric apprentice program and worked in the purchasing department of GE for 37 years. Mr. Burnham retired in 1986. He served as a pilot during World War II, with the rank of ensign. He is survived by two daughters, Candace Kelly of Belchertown and Penelope J. Peterson of Florida; by three sons, Hathorne A. Burnham of Colorado, Stephen R. Burnham and Benjamin M. Burnham, both of Danvers; nine grandchildren; one great grand-daughter and several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Ivan and Elizabeth (Hunt) Burnham; [former] husband of the late Wenonah (Howell) Burnham and grandfather of the late Jeffrey and Blake Burnham. His funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Mackey Funeral Home, 22 Conant St., Danvers."
