a. Note:   OBIT - Annie Karine Halvorson was born in the town of Brigham, Iowa Co., December 4, 1873. Her parents were Sigurd and Anna Marie Halvorson, both of whom died in 1920. She was baptized by Rev. Abraham Jacobson. and confirmed by Rev. Hendrick Voldahl in the Perry Lutheran Church. She spent her childhood and youth in the Perry vicinity. On March 31, 1900, she was married to Thorvald Topper by the Rev. Voldahl. She passed away suddenly at her home in Mt. Horeb on Monday, May 3, age 74 years, 4 months and 29 days. She leaves to cherish tender memories her husand and five daughters, Maybell (Mrs. Burdell Kahl); Gladys (Mrs. Henry Olmoen), of Blue Mounds, Viola (Mrs. Earl Riley), of Madison, Alpha (Mrs. John Johnson), of Mt. Horeb, Florence (Mrs. Wallace Field), of Springdale, and seven grandchildren. One sister, (Mrs. Adolph Throndson, also mourns her loss. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanore, two sisters, Mrs. N.A. Brattlie and Maren and her brother, Isaac. She has been a faithful member of the Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church and an ardent worker in the Ladies Aid since coming to Mt. Horeb, joining the church Dec. 17, 1922. Prior to that time she was for many years an active member of the West Blue Mounds Lutheran Church. Her funeral took place on Thursday, May 6, Ascension Day, at 1:30 p.m. from her home and at 2 o'clock from Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the local Lutheran Cemetery. Her pastor sang "The Great White Host" in Norse at the home and Miss Ruth Nygaard sang "Morning" and "Just as I Am" at the church services accompanied by F. H. Hanneman, organist. The pallbearers were Henry Oimoen, Burdell Kahl, John L. Johnson, Wallace Field, Harlan Oimoen and Earl Riley. An unusual number of in memoriam gifts were given by relatives and friends in memory of this noble, christian wife and mother and humble follower of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The church was filled to capacity in respect to her memory.
