Note: Topper, Viola Johanna MAZOMANIE/ SAUK PRAIRIE - Viola Johanna Topper, age 90, died on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Maplewood Nursing Home of Sauk Prairie. She was born to the late James and Elenor (Libetrau) Howery on July 14, 1916. She married Otto Topper on Oct. 20, 1936. Viola worked at the Black Earth Nursing Home as a cook, finally retiring after 18 years. She loved to listen to country music, cook, and spend time with family. Survivors include a daughter in-law, Mary Jane Topper of Prairie du Sac; four grandchildren, Renee (Paul) Thums of Prairie du Sac, Sonja (Steve) Roh of Muscoda, Kari (Doug) Larsen of Sauk City, and Kayla (Bobby Lumby) Topper of Lyndon Station; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Skyler, Morgan and Mason; sister, Elsie (Lyle) Larson of Cottage Grove; and two sisters-in-law, Martha Howery and Jacquline Howery. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry; infant son, Garry; infant daughter, Phyllis; two brothers, Ervin and Charles Howery; two sisters, LaVerne Howard and Lillian Hughes; as well as an infant sister and two infant brothers. A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHNS LUTHERAN CHURCH, Mazomanie, on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mazomanie Cemetery. Pastor Rob Nelson will officiate. Friends may call on the family at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Mazomanie, Highway 14 West, on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
