Note: OBIT - Otto L. Topper, 69 years, of 314 Hudson Street, Mazomanie (Wisconsin), died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 10, 1977, as a result of an apparent heart attack. He was born on March 4, 1908 near Blue Mounds and had resided in McFarland and Middleton prior to moving to Mazomanie 25 years ago. He married the former Viola Howery of Black Earth on October 20, 1936. Prior to his retirement in 1973, he had been employed as a lineman for the Mid-Plains Telephone Company of Middleton and Cross Plains for 30 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mazomanie. Mr. Topper is survived by his wife; a son, Larry of Mazomanie; five sisters, Mrs. Selena Erickson, Madison; Mrs. Alice Miller, Blue Mounds; Mrs. Helen Topper, Rothschild; Mrs. Matt (Olga) Eggum, Mt. Horeb and Mrs. Marvin (Minnie) Roberts, Barneveld; a brother, Melvin, Madison; and by two granddaughters, Sonja and Renee. Arrangements were made by Gruber - Ellestad Funeral home in Black Earth, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 14th at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mazomanie. The Reverend Joe Matoush officiated. Organist was Robert Olson; soloist was Philip Skalet. Burial was in the Mazomanie Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Richard Acker, Vincent Acker, Robert Busch, Marty Olson, Mike Shaffer and Virgil Theis.
