  OBIT - Mrs. Kari Odness was born in Bang, S. Aurdal, Valders, Norway, December 29, 1843. She was a daughter of Ole and Gunhild Moe. She was first married to Knut Jull and lived for a number of years in Hedalen, S. Aurdal, Valders, Norway. Upon the death of her husband, she immigrated to America in 1844*, coming directly to McFarland, Wisconsin. In the year 1889, she married Christ Odness and settled on the old homestead north of Blue Mounds. Mr. Odness died in 1908. Mrs. Odness has made her home the past 12 years in the village of Blue Mounds. She was a pioneer member of the W. Blue Mounds Lutheran Church and of its Ladies' Aid Society. She passed away Wednesday, January 28 at 2:50 p.m. following a stroke. She attained the ripe old age of 87 years and 30 days. She is survived by 5 children: Ole Juell of Madison; John Juell, Washington; Sever Juell, Canada; Edie Juell, Alhambra, California; and Miss Julia Juell of Blue Mounds. One son, Christ, preceded her in death. She is also survived by 5 stepchildren: Mrs. Ole Topper, Blue Mounds; Mrs. John McKinley, Mt. Horeb, Mrs. Bessie Leary, Birchwood; Mrs. Albert Mickelson, Arena; and Mrs. James Olson, Blue Mounds. She is further survived by 1 brother, Tom Moe of Madison. Her funeral took place Saturday, January 31st at 13:30 p.m.** from her home and at 1 o'clock from W. Blue Mounds Lutheran church with burial at Forest Hill cemetery, Madison. Her pastor, the Rev. E. R. Anderson, officiated. Blessed be her memory.
