Notes
a. Note:   OBIT - Volga, South Dakota Tribune, Dec. 1909. Andrew Hillestad of Oslo, passed away Dec. 1st, and was buried from the Lutheran church of Lake Campbell, December 3rd, Rev. Henrik Voldal officiating. Mr. Hillestad was in his 54th year. He was born near Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. His parents emigrated from Sogn, Norway, nearly 60 years ago. In 1879 the old Amund Hillestad with his wife Anna and their children moved to Moody Co., S. Dakota, where they secured a homestead and stayed until the elder Hillestad died. Meanwhile the children had scattered in Brookings Co. and the elder Mrs. Hillestad sold the homestead and moved to her children. She is now stopping with her daugher Mrs. Bill Thompson at Sinai, S.D. Andrew Hillestad settled in Oslo in 1879. He leaves a wife, nee Anna Erickson, and seven children, five girls and two boys, the youngest is seven years old. He also leaves a mother and five brothers of who Edmund and Albert are well-known here, and one sister. Mr. Hillestad had been a hard worker and leaves family in good financial circumstances. He was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor. He formerly was a member of the Lake Campbell Lutheran congregation which by Mr. Hillestad's death has lost a good member. He was in poor health for more than one year, but did not think the case was a serious one until last fall. He then consulted Dr. Boeckman at St. Paul and later Drs. Mayo at Rochester. But all in vain. The case was cancer of the stomach. The family have our heartfelt sympathy.
