a. Note:   Wisconsin State Journal , October 19, 1941 (from newspaperarchive dot com) At high noon on Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs O. J. Sampe, Kenosha, their daughter Irma Mary became the bride of Melvin Topper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Topper, Blue Mounds, in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Walter Pifer. The bride wore an afternoon dress of velvet with a black velvet turban and veil. Mr. Sampe's daughter Miss Mabel Sampe was maid of honor for her sister. She wore a velvet gown with a black velvet hat. Christopher Blue was best man. Miss Florence Sampe, sister, ... of the wedding music. After a luncheon at the Sampe home Mr. and Mrs. Topper left on motor trip to the south. After November 1 they will be at home at 614 W. Johnson Street in Madison.
  Obituary - TOPPER, MRS. MELVIN (IRMA)
  MADISON - Mrs. Melvin (Irma) Topper, 71, of 3806 Atwood Avenue died on Friday, July 18, 1980 at a local hospital. Born on March 12, 1909 in Chill, Wisconsin, she had been an employee at the University of Wisconsin Graduate School. Mrs. Topper was the former Irma Sampe and married Melvin on October 18, 1941. She was a very outstanding pianist. Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Barbara) Baker of Madison; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Shane and Jennifer; three brothers, Alvord Sampe, Kenosha; Ernest Sampe of Prescott, Arizona, and Frederic of Kenosha; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Mable) Arntsen, and Mrs. Jess (Eleanor) Bellaver, both of Kenosha, and Mrs. Aaron (Florence) Smith of Salem, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH at 2165 Linden Avenue at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, with the Reverend James Niederloh officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm. on Monday, July 21, at the Gunderson Funeral Home at 5203 Monona Drive.
