  OBIT - BLUE MOUNDS NATIVE DIES IN WAUSAU - Mrs. Walter Barron, Santa Rosa, Calif., died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 12, at Wausau, where she and her husband had been visiting relatives in the area. She was 75. Born Jan. 29, 1900, in Blue Mounds Township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole Topper. The former Mabel Topper was married to the Rev. Walter Barron on February 25, 1925. They had lived at Marshfield, Wis., before moving to Santa Rosa, Calif., 16 years ago. She was a member of the Sons of Norway Lodge, the Dover Club, Christians Mothers Club, and the American War Mothers. Surviving are her husband; three sons, Donovan, Kenneth and Amos, all of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Sigourney, of Siloom Springs, Ark.; five sisters, Mrs. Selena Erickson, Madison; Mrs. Alice Miller, Blue Mounds; Miss Helen Topper of Rothschild; Mrs. Matt Eggum, Mount Horeb; and Mrs. Marvin Roberts, Arena; two brothers, Otto of Mazomanie; and Melvin of Madison; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Barron was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Topper and John Topper. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. at Blue Mounds Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Twiton officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
  1975 newspaper article - The Rev. and Mrs. W. B. Barron were honored at a buffet reception on the occasion of their Golden Wedding anniversary. The event took place at Norway Hall, with approximately 150 guests present. The couple was married February 7, 1925 at Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. They reside at 1201 13th Street, Santa Rosa. Hosts for the reception were the Barron's children: Mr. and Mrs. Nick Barron, Don and Ken Barron, all of Santa Rosa, and Mrs. Delores Sigourney, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Assisting were the honorees' grandchildren, Cheryl and Ken Kinser, Charlotte and Rick Walter and Danny Barron. Entertainment included songs by Joel and Randall Barron, grandsons; Shirley McKay, Mrs. Fern Wallace and her daughters, Linda and Diane. Frank Barron, a brother, read the couple's "memoirs." The four-tier anniversary cake was cut by Mrs. Ruth Ringle. Women of Norway Hall served the buffet luncheon. Out-of-town relatives and friends were in attendance from Nice, Castro Valley, Hayward, Oakland, Alameda, Forestville, Rohnert Park, Sebastopol and Arkansas.
